A wacky tacky day!

After several stress' we've gone through...and some proddings here and there, sa wakas dumating na ang jumbo-box [that's according to their own description] this afternoon, at exactly 16:59:47. I went upstairs just right in time [when I heard the FX pulled to stop in front of the gate...] together with my 2 doggies so to keep them away because these two lovely rascals really hate strangers inside the house. I left my son there to receive the box by himself. And I just anticipated his call for me to present an ID and sign the papers. I heard a whiff of arguments so I plodded down the stairs and peeped through the window. My son who's so riled na because of the delayed made a sharp query to the other bloke who made me sign the papers. I asked that bloke if there's anything more in the pretext that nothing's happening. So as not to spark any serious altercation. As in deadma. But he answered back pa to my dear son. And that man really showed his uncouth manners by mumbling pa something. Eh syempre naiinis yung bagets ko. His companion shoved him gently inside the FX and even without saying a single word he has conveyed to us that he felt sorry for whatever the other bloke showed us. It was really uncalled for hence they are paid to deliver the box siguro naman with enough politeness na rin and some courteous manner. Iyon naman ang mahalaga. Kung masita man kayo ng customers ninyo baka problema ninyo na yun pa'no harapin yun positively and not just to add fuel to the fire like what the man did.

I slightly reprimanded my son for getting the better of him with that kind of concern. Ako kasi when am livid, I tend to be ballistic at iyon ang nagpapalala ng situation, that's why as long as I can manage to keep my mouth shut, I do it... yun talaga ang ginagawa ko. I write nga lang. I blog what I feel. I turn into a silent gadfly when shoved, not to consider me as pundit 'coz I'm not one. Paano ka naman kasi 'di maiirita, 7 long weeks of waiting wasn't a good gag! Now they were saying na baka daw nasa amin ang pagkukulang at baka daw hindi kami bayad! Wow, holy cow...hindi ganun yun. Don't blather, for it shows some ignorance. The box will be delivered right after you made your call, and you'll have to pay it in cash once you get hold of it. Then when your done filling that up, you'll them and tell them it's ready to be picked up. And presto. So meaning bayad na siya before mo pa itawag na okey na to pick that up. Why would they say na baka 'di pa kami bayad? And dapat daw eh ang LBC ang nagdeliver sa amin...huh...bakit nadamay ang LBC? Hahaha, kee! Alam ko they might be too tired or headachy kaya siya ganun, pero for what it's worth, they should have at least be nice to us dahil without those boxes coming abroad, palagay nila may idedeliver ba sila? One plus one lang 'yan eh. Sa hirap ng buhay ngayon? Kami ang na-stress sa bagal at inefficiencies nila so they need to be polite, courteous and a little apologetic. Period! And not the other way around. May dapat ba kaming ipag-sorry? And you guys should know the rudiments of being polite and tactful when things like this happen. And you shouldn't possess such choleric temper because you will be dealing with a lot of people. This is a door to door cargo delivery, and to avail such service we have to pay a steep charge amounting to 8000 yen...and we're not supposed to be given stares with palpable animosity, na ang dahilan ay nasa inyo mismo. Granting na the season is hampering talaga the services dahil maraming nagpapadala, so at least man lang sana initiatively you gave us a call. We're just a text away di ba? Na ganito po, ganyan ang nangyari. Maiintindihan naman namin yun. Ang laki ng contact numbers sa labas ng box! Well...ang dami namang cargo services d'yan so no problem. The competition is really high. Kung ganyan ang experience namin sa tauhan ninyo, what will you think? Now definitely your services will be out on our list!

Pero at the back of my mind, laking pasalamat na rin at sumakamay na namin ito...so let us not live in the past ika nga. Another Murphy's Law example...so...peace !

And for that bloke...Merry Christmas na lang po and Happy New Year! Cool man...cool!

And to Mermaid...kindly give some briefings naman to your tauhan. They need it from time to time to avoid negative reactions.

Like what ma'am or Starbucks says..."Love your customers!"

Coffee: An Old Time Stimulant!

I myself being a coffee fiend, to keep me awake functionally if I wanted to...consume 2-3 cups a day...the most is four but over and above I think having 5 cups a day is unhealthy to consider. When it comes to coffee you'll have one thing in mind...Starbucks. And if you hear Starbucks, one may have second thought, why because of the cost. I'd rather buy a bag of 12 packets and boil fresh water and make myself an easy one and sit down in front of my tv set and voila! But sometimes it's nice to sit at Starbucks with your friends or loved ones and enjoy the aroma with some chit chat. It's different when you see some perky baristas doing their own way of preparing your coffee. But what annoys me is when you say you want coffee, they'd go "Coffee latte, Cappuccino Au Lait, Cafe Mocha or Americano?" Huh?! What's that again? "With milk, non fat or full cream?"...huh again? "With white sugar, brown sugar, mascuvado or sweetener?" Huh?! Wheew! "Hot or cold?" "With frap or ice-blended coffee?" Waaah.... grabe namang pagka-personalized ng coffee na yan! Just give me a cup of fresh brewed coffee, I don't care if it's Arabica or Robusta! Another grrrrr. Huhuhu...just get me a cup of coffee, lol! Kainis minsan kasi 5 years [joke lang] bago mo mahawakan ang cup of coffee mo. But all in all, we cannot argue how patok this coffee shops today. There are other choices like Figaro or Mocha Blends, and Pancake House also offers their own coffee style with their signature pancakes along.

Btw, not everyone of us knew a lot about people behind Starbucks I think. I've learned about this when I made an early reservation and bought airfare tickets from now a friend Buds Balongkit. One travel adviser/staff is a sister of Miss Mercedes M. Corrales, present CEO & COO of Starbucks Coffee Japan, Ltd. Whoah, ang galing di ba?! Sayang, I'd been there pero di ko pa siya na-meet, if only I had known earlier from Buds...nag-Starbucks pa naman kami sa Nagoya Centrair while passing time, waiting for my flight home...sigh [dapat noon ko pa ito ipinost as promised but been so busy.] Wow, we should be very very proud of her. She's able to build a name by the sweat of her brow...and I can truly say it was a complete break through. A very successful Filipina in the real sense of the word. They carry their first commandment of Business which goes, "Love your customers.", ang ganda di ba? Sana lahat ng business yan ang policy at motto. According to my friend, as of now daw po ay Asia-Pacific na ang post ni ma'am, wow, promotion yun di ba? Mas tumindi pa. Kudos po talaga sa success nyo, unstoppable...good karma and because of sipag at dedication sa work talaga and reason behind!

The first Starbucks location outside North America opened in Tokyo, Japan, in 1996. We all know that Japan is a tea drinker country but still they manage to penetrate the country's strict preference when it comes to food and drink. They chose healthy diet but Japanese are open to such new offer. Not that coffee is not healthy but I think it's otherwise compared to milk that has calcium and other vitamins in it! Sa ngayon, pag di ka nag-Starbucks di ka in.

PS/**Some time in the past, Starbucks stores and products was boycotted because it is alleged that Starbucks sends part of its profits to the Israel Defense Forces, something Starbucks refutes. This allegation is apparently based on a spoof letter published on an anti-Zionist website. But again, we do not know the truth behind this story.

Another Boracay Getaway!

One place I've learned to love is the Boracay shoreline. It has indeed captured my [lull] interest in sea water, though honestly saying am not a swimmer. I just love to enjoy the beauty of the island and its crystalline blue water and its powdery white sand that makes it one of the best sought tourist spot here in our country. I love it there. While in Bora, you'll enjoy life for the meantime sans the city's pollution, noise and avoid niggling chores for awhile. It'll just be pure enjoyment and respite from work to treat yourself. Time to smell some roses ika nga. Though the price is steep at this time because of holidays, the peak season where reserving for the accomodation and the airfares are quite scraping one's pocket unlike when you choose other months where they give low-budgeted promos. Just the same, Boracay will be one of the best choice, and enjoyable place to spend time with your loved ones.

Take heed and participate

Today, not only experts but we as well do believe that our climate is really changing. The emission of heat trapping gasses due to various causes like the carbon mostly coming from our vehicles, the use of spray whether it be cosmetically or say like insect spray can do a lot of harm in our atmosphere, those industrial gasses from the factories and most of all the result from the inevitable deforestation. These all ruin our ozone layer because of the gasses building up that blanketed the atmosphere. Maybe we all notice that it's getting hotter and hotter each year compared to what is normal. If we continue to ignore this quite a phenomenon, we will experience a lot of what we do not know or perhaps expect like what happened during Ondoy where surging flash-floods took us by surprise. Still a lot of people though aware keep an unmindful and careless attitude. When is the right time to get involve? When and how can we help? In our own little ways there are still a lot of chances to help though we all know the greatness of this problem is. If we do not participate to help a bit how to lessen the cause of global warming...there's more of Ondoy-like to come that can kill a lot in an instant without prior notice. Be aware...and take heed lest everything on earth are put in jeopardy... and enormous risks.

Thank heaven...!

For over some years, I didn't post any wish list because I've learned to just do as always, welcome anything God has been giving me. For me kasi contentment is happiness. Big or small. Am just always thankful and grateful as well. I'm just not the materialistic type of a person. But whenever I go to the mall and do some minimal shopping...I'd always think of one day having this laptop pagnakakakita ako sa display windows. It's just a silent wish lang naman kasi we have naman at home and I have all the time in the world to blog gaya ngayon. But then, minsan naiisip kong magkaroon ng laptop, and who doesn't? And why not. But the thought of having one puts a gleam in my eye talaga. Of course it's not one of my priorities, budget-wise 'coz we all know it's not something like a dime a dozen. But honestly, I just want to know how it feels to blog outside. Ayun I just got it! Am super duper brimming with joy when I've received an email that my laptop will be arriving anytime next week. Heaving a sigh of relief...I whisper a lot of thank-yous to up above. Now something happened last Dec 4...when my daughter met a road accident. The car was damaged but she was able to go home in one piece. I couldn't find words to describe how grateful and blest I felt that day and still up to this moment. Kaya naman with or without gifts at all...won't matter now talaga. 'Coz I received the most expensive gift ever...with matching bonus on the side pa...got a lot of thank-you's to whisper.

I make a link to this song I always love to hear by MLTR. It says...Life will take you high and low...and it's gonna make sense

PS/ Ang una kong gagawin siguro bukod sa magpasalamat...ay magblog sa Manila Bay on the first day of the year...[and why not?] :)

Making S'mores for Christmas treat!

How to make S'mores this Christmas...and no need to go on camping! Children will love this for sure, let's try it.

2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
1 (12-ounce ) package milk chocolate chips
4 cups mini-marshmallows

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. In a bowl combine graham cracker crumbs, sugar, salt and butter. Reserve 1 cup of crumb mixture and set aside. Press remaining mixture in the bottom of a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish. Bake for 12 minutes, or until golden brown. Cool on a rack.
3. In a metal bowl set over a saucepan of barely simmering water melt chocolate, stirring constantly. Spread evenly over baked crust; sprinkle with marshmallows, pressing them lightly. Sprinkle the reserved crumb mixture evenly over all. Broil for 30 seconds, or until the marshmallows are puffed and golden. Allow to cool completely and cut it into squares.

Makes about 24 bars.

PS/ Know what, I tried putting bananas and it tastes real dang good! :)

For a change!

I want something new. All my life I've been choosing only one color. Always the silver platinum for my nail polish. So afraid to reinvent myself. So afraid it wouldn't look good on my personality. Afraid also that it would be in appropriate at my age and pretty laidback when it comes to fashion. Now I want something new, for a change. And I like it. It brightens my sullen mood. Plus, now am more conscious also to what I prepare on the table. Eating banana everyday is a good healthy diet. I tried not to have coffee this morning, and instead I made myself a hot choco-milk and bread with cheese-dog and eggs...but I didn't touch the egg. I love toasted bread and I always find time to get one bigger pack in the grocery. I munch while I read my favorite books.

My heart is grieving!

I was about to sign out when my gut instinct took over. I decided to visit my best friend's site... papaxicolates. The last time I heard from him via email was when we had a small issue that sent me crying a whole lot because I knew I have had hurt him but I begged for forgiveness. But because he's a very good man, he chose to forget the little issue I hurled at him. My bad, I just said something in jest that had slighted him a bit. Then after that he told me he had to stay away for a while due to his acid reflux discomforts. OMG, I was about to leave again a message on his chat-box when I saw some of his Portuguese friends saying about...his sudden death...it really took me by surprise.
To you Carlos, my Sherlock Holmes...you really had called it a day indeed! May you rest in peace. I will never ever forget you my dearest friend. I love you, and surely I'll miss you. I just hope your mom will always be in the pink of health.

[I knew he traveled some hours just to be with her almost every Wednesdays. Now I worry about his mother. I don't know who will look after her. I just hope she's fine...and keeping up.]

PS/Went over your emails and it really warmed up my heart again because of your jokes and those pretty advices I did learn from you. You're one of the nicest friend I've got. I will miss your big hugs and kisses you always send me via emails. I have never loved a friend and respected someone like this before...ever...with all the wisdom you did impart in my mind. REST IN PEACE MY FRIEND.... I will treasure this picture you lovingly sent me when I requested one.

You will always be remembered...Sir Carlos de Almeida of Lisboa, Portugal
